Through the use of an accessible, relatively easy to use new technology, called CRISPR, we can create our own mythology.
Cutting and pasting our DNA, we are now able to design ‘superheros’: faster, smarter, taller, with perfectly symmetrical faces.
But the possibilities don’t end there. It is also theoretically possible to create human beings with tails, a trunk to drink, echolocation to see with sound, wings and colour changing skin.
Genetically engineered beings are inevitable, but what if it doesn’t work out quite the way we expect?
The first step in genetically modifying an organism is to make it glow. A bioluminescent tag that says “Ive been edited” helps scientists differentiate between cells.
I use this as a symbol for CRISPR technology to create a world of genetically modified creatures that could one day be our own. Look through the view hole to see our Genetically Modified Future.
