Recycled Acrylic, Metal fastenings
Crafted out of acrylic sheet waste from a lazer cutting company, this cabinet is result of meticulous testing and experimentation on plastic scrap. It began when I saw a huge box of discarded acrylic cut-outs, and found out that these were rarely recycled, with tonnes and tonnes going to landfill. Manipulating the original shapes of the waste, I drill, rivet, heat, and form the plastic, to create the structure and strength, then engrave it. The creatures you can find within the cabinet are mostly spontaneous engravings of whatever was in my mind at that moment, but I think as a whole the cabinet tells a story of the war between nature and plastic.
